What Fossils can you find Port Mulgrave?
Dinosaur bone
(Foreshore of Shale) - 2004

There is a wide range of Ammonite fauna at port Mulgrave, most of which can be found in Nodules. But there are other finds to be made too, Horse Tails (Plants) are also common, reptile remains, dinosaur bones, brachiopods and bivalves and fish remains.

Look for nodules and look hard for Ammonites that are just peeping out of the rocks like the one above, they can be easily prepared and cleaned up back at home.

Dactylioceras commune

Superb well preserved and prepared specimen, presented in original nodule. It is 170 million years old and comes from Port Mulgrave, Yorkshire, UK. This is a regular line and the image shows an example of the specimen. Approx. Size: 5cm diameter.

Ammonites polished halves. You can see the chambers in these lovely specimens. They are 170 million years old and comes from Port Mulgrave, Yorkshire, UK. This is a regular line and the image shows an example of the specimen. Approx. Size: 4cm diameter.
